One Week Down, Seven to Go!

How did your first week go? Did you find some choices were harder to make than others?

If you didn't do as well as you had hoped this week, don't give up! The first week is always the hardest. Just remember, once you get in the habit of making healthier choices, it won't be as hard to choose an apple instead of a cupcake:)

Remember to enter your points for this week. I will be doing the weekly drawing tomorrow at noon, so make sure you have your points in before then! (And if you didn't get over 50 points this week, that's ok! Enter your points before tomorrow morning anyway to be entered to win the prize for "always entered weekly points on time.")

Have a good week!

  1. IMAGINE! AN ENTIRE WEEK WITHOUT SUGAR! Who would've thunk it possible? To be honest, it wasn't the ENTIRE week. Sunday's sugar point was spent on a chocolate chip cookie . . . then the whole bag of cookies . . . then four Otter-pops . . . then two scoops of vanilla ice cream on my cantaloupe . . . then collapsed on the couch in a sugar coma. It was the BEST point I ever spent.

  2. I was doing great with the no sugar. I had scheduled myself to spend a point on sugar, and on eating after 8 p.m. for Friday, which is date night. A neighbor brought some relatively low sugar cookies over on Friday too, so I tried one since I was already losing my point to eat ice cream later that night. I spent my two points, and felt pretty good about it. However, the next day I saw the cookies, and without even thinking about it, popped one in my mouth. Halfway through chewing it I realized that I had just cost myself another point. Ooops! It had been so much easier earlier in the week! Then I spent all of Sunday seriously battling a sugar craving. It was horrible.

    1. I had a serious battle on Sunday, too! It was rough. I would walk past a frozen tub of cookie dough over and over and have to talk myself away from it. I succeeded, but then I ate 2 cupcakes today. There goes my first point loss this week!

  3. Way to go, Andy! While you were in your sugar coma, I was cinching up your pants so they would fit a little tighter! Darn those sugar calories!

Heather, since I have been doing a Healthy Habits challenge since January, it's a little bit easier for me to not put something in my mouth without thinking. But I know EXACTLY what you mean! I think the hardest thing for me to do is remember to drink enough water. It's still a conscious effort. Thanks to Jill, who mentioned that she had done her personal point in the morning, I remembered to do my personal point last night or I would have lost that one!

I have a vacation coming up in a few weeks. I have a feeling that week won't be so good.

  4. The day the challenge started I left on an 8 day vacation with my family. They all thought I was nuts starting a "diet" the same day I was starting a vacation, but I was thankful. If it wasn't for the challenge, this week would've been a week of binge-eating crap as fast as I could shovel it into my mouth. It has been frustrating to lose points because I couldn't find the floss in all the luggage or because we didn't stop driving to eat dinner until after 8pm. So my 41 points this week are a disappointment to me, but again, I think of how responsible I've been because I have had something to keep me accountable and so I'm grateful! I also didn't do myself any favors by picking two things for my personal point, but they are both so important to me that I'm moving forward with that goal.

I'm really, really grateful for this! It's just what I needed in my life right now!

    1. Paige, I'm so happy you're a part of this challenge! 41 points on a vacation is GREAT! Especially for the first week! Good for you for starting even while on vacation.

    2. Paige, I'd be shouting my 41 points from the roof-top after an 8 day vacation! Don't be disappointed in yourself, you have accomplished something big!

  5. I guess I don't understand the 6 freebie points? I lost 4 points because I had a sugary treat for four days, but where does the freebie come in? Sorry.

I'll be picking up my missionary son and spending 3 weeks with our kids so this is definitely going to be harder than I thought, but IT'S STILL GREAT!!! I'm very impressed with all of you who have such amazing self-control.

    1. Yvonne, the only REAL freebie is the exercise point on Sunday. However, the 6 freebie points means we can lose 6 points during the week and it is still considered a full point week! You did great! You talk about self-control, look in the mirror! Here you are training to run a marathon! You have a lot of self-control and will power!
Enjoy your missionary son and all your kids! Nothing better than being with family!
